Investing in the Future of Systems Engineering

The INCOSE Huntsville Regional Chapter Scholarship Program was established to promote the study and practice of Systems Engineering, support pathways into INCOSE membership and certification, and strengthen regional STEM pipelines.

As a hub for aerospace, defense, and technology industries, Huntsville and the greater Tennessee Valley region offer outstanding career opportunities for systems engineers. Our scholarship program helps local students build the skills and connections to thrive in these fields.

For students enrolled in an accredited 4-year college or university pursuing Systems Engineering or a related STEM field.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an INCOSE member to apply?
No! INCOSE membership is optional but encouraged. If you are not already a member, you are welcome to apply and are encouraged to consider joining the student INCOSE chapter at your school if one is available.
What GPA is required?
A minimum GPA of 3.0 (unweighted) is required for all scholarship types.
Where must I live or attend school?
Both your home address and your school must be within 100 miles of Huntsville, Alabama. This covers the greater Tennessee Valley area including Madison, Decatur, Athens, Florence, and surrounding communities.
Can I apply for multiple scholarships?
You may apply for the scholarship type that best matches your academic level. Only one scholarship per applicant per cycle.
What documents do I need?
Required: Application form, resume, unofficial transcript, and a personal statement (500-700 words). Optional: One letter of recommendation and a portfolio or project sample.
How are applications scored?
Applications are evaluated on: Academic Performance (20 pts), Personal Statement (35 pts), Leadership & Engagement (20 pts), INCOSE Alignment (15 pts), and Application Quality (10 pts), for a total of 100 points. A 3-person review panel ensures fairness.
What can scholarship funds be used for?
Funds can be used for tuition, books, supplies, INCOSE membership fees, the INCOSE SE Handbook, or travel/registration for local or regional INCOSE events.
When are scholarships awarded?
Scholarships are awarded twice yearly — in June (aligned with the MBSE Symposium) for the Spring cycle and in October (aligned with the Chapter Meeting) for the Winter cycle.
